Marriage is work--plain and simple. After the hormone surge dies down and picking up dirty clothes off the floor is no longer "fun", there's serious work to be done to keep the marriage intact and even make it more enjoyable, let alone bearable.
I know because I have been married 43 years. Got any issues, ask me. I have the answers because I also have an M.S. in counseling from John Hopkins University!

I've been thinking about marriage more and more since I have read the tragic tale of the two men who killed their families and then killed themselves. It's incredibly sad that these poor men thought that they had no other way to solve their problems. Then there was the young man from Freddie Mac who killed himself today. Please, please if you are married to a man who might be troubled, get him to talk to you or someone else about it. Get him to an emergency room if necessary. Don't wait. Suicide/Murder are drastic and permanent reactions to temporary problems no matter how intense and immense they seem.
